A separate part of the claim management is the specific audit. A “Project manual on claim processing” will be created for this purpose. Here the interfaces must be described, the project managers and their tasks named, the jurisdictions regulated, the procedure for the audit specified, working instructions, e.g. for handling hourly wage work, must be written and additional provisions for project coordination (meetings, etc.) must be set.
Before auditing claims, a contract analysis and checking of the order calculation are essential.
The claims are audited from construction operations and structural engineering standpoints and are heavily influenced by the contract provisions.
Should it become apparent during the audit that legal questions – usually with regard to the definition of the required performance – must also be answered, cooperation with a legal expert must be initiated.
The results of the audit of a claim will be recorded as a systematic audit report.
